Discovery Dox, Inc. (“Discovery Dox,” “we,” “us”) operates a software platform that helps family-law firms collect discovery materials from their clients. This notice explains how we handle personal information in connection with our platform, and in particular our SMS text-message program.

Information we collect

We collect the information a law firm provides when it invites a client to Discovery Dox — including the client’s name, email address, and (where the client consents to text messages) mobile phone number — and the discovery information the client submits through the platform. We also collect basic technical data needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

We use this information to provide the platform: to let clients complete and return their discovery materials, to let firms track progress, and to send transactional notifications and reminders about outstanding tasks and deadlines.

SMS text messages

If a client consents to text messages, Discovery Dox sends transactional SMS notifications and reminders about the client’s discovery tasks (for example, a notice when discovery begins and reminders until the materials are submitted). Consent is collected by the client’s law firm when the client’s case is created; Discovery Dox does not use a public sign-up form for text messages.

No mobile information — including your phone number and your SMS consent — will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the platform (such as our messaging and email providers), and only as needed to deliver the service.

Data retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, and we protect it with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.
